Thermoforming of acrylic sheet
The acrylic sheet can be heated in oven of convection air or in a oven heated by infrared radiation. The heat must be spread in a uniform way in all the sheet. If a source of radiation is used do not put it near to the sheet so that you can prevent a local excessive heating.
The temperature advisable is 145 to 185 C. When the sheet reach this temperature it get a plastic behavior, that s means, it can change the shape easily Once the desired shape has been got, it has to be cooled slowly and will remain with the shape obtained in hot.
There are different ways of giving shape to the sheet with this process. Molds are used in which vacuum can be used or air pressure that helps the sheets gets the wanted shape.
